NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday core business hours with on call cover approx. 1/4

This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone to offer clinical leadership within the ever-developing Directorate of Forensic Mental Health & Learning Disabilities (DFM&LD) and to represent their nursing colleagues in shaping our future services.

Key aspects of the role are providing leadership and line management to nursing colleagues; supporting Departmental/Directorate Management Teams as well as ensuring safe effective and person-centred care. Close team working is required with other professional groups including medical staff, AHPs (Allied Health Professionals), administrative staff, and all other professional groups.

This role will be based either at our Medium Secure Service in Rowanbank Clinic in the north of Glasgow or our Low Secure Service on the Leverndale campus in the south of the city. This role provides a key leadership position for nursing services within DFMH&LD, working jointly with the Lead Nurse responsible for the opposite service. As well as being a key member of the Senior Operational Management Team, close working is required with other NHS GGC services, as well as services across the West of Scotland and beyond.

The post holder will be a visible and indispensable part of the senior management team and work towards positive changes in service provision to ensure that patients receive high quality, timeous, care in the right place with the right person. The post holder will strive to maintain a positive organisational culture and ensure the health and wellbeing of staff is prioritised.

If you think you have the commitment, drive and energy to take on this responsibility we look forward to hearing from you. The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis although hours may be negotiable in line with wider team fit.

Please contact Kirsteen Slavin, Clinical Service Manager-Inpatient Services or Mark Gillespie, Nurse Consultant for informal discussion.

Informal contact is encouraged prior to application.
