NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday with core hours between 9am and 5pm.
Please note the salary is pro rata for part time hours.
The Department
The Family and Systemic Psychotherapy clinicians in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services provide excellent care for families of children and young people with significant mental health difficulties. The service provides systemic supervision and support to CAMHS staff working with families and consider the systemic impact of work in Specialist Children’s Services on colleagues. In addition to the professional lead post, there are 3 senior posts at 8a providing supervision and leadership to family therapy staff, and 5.4 staff in community teams and in the infant mental health service. There are 2wte staff in regional and national inpatient services.
Key responsibilities, essential and desirable criteria (skills, knowledge, and experience):
The professional leadership role provides supervision to the senior staff, systemic advice and guidance for SCS in management meetings, and collaboration with other professional leads in the service. The service values new ideas and high quality clinical work focusing on the needs of the child and their family, and the system around them.
We seek an experienced family and systemic therapist with a minimum of 5 years in a family and systemic psychotherapy role and membership of the Association of Family Therapists (AFT). Leadership skills and knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with significant mental health difficulties are essential to the role, and demonstrable experience of service development in a multi-agency environment is desirable.
Working within Specialist Children’s service in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which encompasses Community paediatrics, CAMHS & Acute Paediatrics, you will be committed to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families.
You will lead the work of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy whose aim is to provide high quality support, assessment and interventions in line with evidence based practice and national policies/ agendas.

You will be directly responsible and accountable for the clinical service providing professional advisory function across SCS.
You will have excellent skills in building relationships, influencing others and maintaining collaborative relationships. You will have within the job role key managerial and leadership responsibilities and so should be well organised, able to assimilate complex information and be flexible in your approach to what will work.
