JOB TITLE: Toolmaker

About the Role

TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Toolmaker / Workshop Machinist to provide short-term cover within an established engineering workshop in Glasgow.

The role will involve precision machining and toolmaking, working from engineering drawings and to tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate manual toolroom machinery including lathes, milling machines, vertical borers and surface grinders
• Manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings
• Work to tight tolerances and specifications
• Carry out mechanical fitting and toolmaking duties
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Work independently and use initiative
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
• Follow company quality and health & safety procedures

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Time-served Toolmaker
• Mechanical fitting experience
• Previous toolmaking or machine shop experience
• Strong knowledge of manual machining
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Ability to work independently

Desirable

• Engineering or industrial workshop experience
• Experience with a range of manual machining equipment
• Previous experience supporting apprentices
