This is a key hire within a supportive and collaborative business where you will be truly valued, respected, and encouraged to develop your career.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Loss Adjuster to handle a varied portfolio of private and commercial property claims across Scotland, with an office base in Glasgow. You will work closely with brokers, insurers, and legal organisations throughout the full claims lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Initial Claim Assessment

  • Review claim notifications, policy wordings, and coverage details to understand insured scope, conditions, and exclusions
  • Make early contact with policyholders, brokers, or insurers to gather initial information and manage expectations

Site Visits & Damage Investigation

  • Attend properties to inspect and assess the extent of damage across domestic and commercial settings
  • Identify the cause of loss (e.g. escape of water, fire, storm, impact, subsidence)
  • Take photographs, measurements, and detailed notes to support findings and determine policy validity

Evidence Gathering & Validation

  • Interview policyholders, witnesses, contractors, and relevant parties
  • Review documentation including invoices, repair estimates, maintenance records, and security footage
  • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate where appropriate

Managing Contractors & Specialists

  • Liaise with surveyors, restoration companies, engineers, and other experts as required
  • Obtain and evaluate repair estimates and reinstatement proposals
  • Ensure all work is cost-effective and appropriate to the nature of the damage

Communication & Customer Support

  • Provide clear, timely updates to policyholders, brokers, and insurers throughout the claim lifecycle
  • Explain decisions, next steps, and policy implications in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Manage expectations around timescales, coverage, and settlement outcomes

Negotiation & Settlement

  • Calculate settlement values based on policy terms, repair costs, and applicable depreciation
  • Negotiate fair settlements with policyholders, contractors, and third parties
  • Recommend settlement strategies to insurers and obtain authority where required

Reporting & Documentation

  • Produce detailed, accurate reports covering cause, liability, quantum, and recommendations
  • Maintain clear file notes and ensure compliance with regulatory and insurer standards
  • Track claim progress and ensure timely closure

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure all actions comply with FCA regulations, insurer guidelines, and industry standards
  • Identify trends or recurring issues that may indicate broader risk exposure for insurers

Travel & Territory Management

  • Plan and manage travel efficiently across Scotland
  • Organise workload to consistently meet service-level agreements and deadlines

About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience handling domestic and commercial property claims
  • Strong investigation, negotiation, and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to manage your own caseload independently and effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • An interest in professional development and qualifications, if not already attained

What's on offer?

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • A supportive, people-first culture where your contribution is genuinely valued
  • Opportunity to grow within a successful and expanding independent firm
  • Encouragement and support for continued professional development
  • Varied and interesting caseload across Scotland
