From bases across the UK, STV’s content production arm, STV Studios, creates world-class entertainment for UK and international networks and streamers, including Apple TV+ drama Criminal Record, global phenomenon LEGO Masters and BBC police drama Blue Lights.
THE ROLE
As a member of the STV Player Content Team in Glasgow, the Digital Content Coordinator plays an essential operational role. You will publish, check, maintain and promote content across STV Player, making sure programmes are available accurately, on time and in line with rights, compliance, commercial and editorial requirements.
This is a hands-on digital content operations role that is particularly suited to someone who loves television, is highly organised, comfortable working across detailed IT workflows, and enjoys investigating and resolving problems.
This role will work across a 4-week rota including weekend and evening work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source and track video, image, subtitle and metadata assets from syndication feeds, in-house systems, content partners and STV’s Library.
- Use STV’s Content Management System and various other tools to publish and maintain VOD content across STV Player platforms.
- Apply and verify rights and compliance requirements, including availability windows, warnings, advertising rules and geo-blocking.
- Support STV Player’s editorial strategy by updating homepage placements, categories, collections and recommendations, working closely with colleagues across Digital and the wider business.
- Create, proof, check and update programme information, episode metadata, written descriptions, imagery and thumbnails.
- Act as a ‘first customer’ by checking audio and video quality, playback, advertising, sponsorship, subtitles and platform presentation before signing off publication.
- Monitor scheduled and published content, identify issues quickly, follow documented processes and maintain accurate records and trackers.
- Troubleshoot technical or workflow failures, carry out appropriate recovery steps and provide clear evidence when escalating to Technology, Engineering or external partners.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience of working accurately in a content management, media operations, digital publishing, scheduling or similarly process-driven environment.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, follow complex instructions and keep records accurate.
- A strong interest in television and streaming, with good editorial judgement and an understanding of how viewers discover and watch programmes.
- Experience of working with video.
- Strong IT confidence and the ability to learn interconnected systems quickly, investigate unexpected behaviour and troubleshoot methodically.
- Clear, accurate written communication, including confident proofreading and the ability to describe technical issues precisely when escalating them.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with the confidence to make operational decisions and escalate appropriately when an issue may affect viewers, rights or compliance.
- Experience with streaming platforms, CMS tools, digital rights, metadata, subtitles, advertising or content delivery workflows would be an advantage.
- Basic Photoshop and video editing skills are useful, but this is not primarily a creative production role.
