McCulloch Aligned Recruitment

US Payroll Team Leader | Hybrid (Glasgow) | US Hours

Working pattern: Flexible hybrid. You’ll start with 1 day a week in our client’s Glasgow office and 4 days from home. Once you’re settled, this may drop to 1–2 office days a month.

Hours: The role supports US operations, so you’ll work US hours. This mainly means afternoon and evening UK time.

About the role

We’re supporting our client in their search for a capable US Payroll Team Leader. This role suits someone who enjoys a collaborative environment and solving problems, and who is confident managing complex, high-volume payroll.

You’ll coordinate and lead all aspects of payroll, working closely with a third-party provider to make sure payroll is accurate, compliant and on time. It’s a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that values flexibility, continuous improvement and strong teamwork across functions.

US payroll experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you have strong high-volume or multi-country payroll experience and you’re keen to develop your US knowledge, we’d like to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading payroll operations from start to finish
  • Acting as the main point of contact between internal teams and external payroll vendors
  • Finding ways to improve payroll procedures and putting more efficient workflows in place
  • Troubleshooting and resolving payroll issues
  • Making sure payroll practices meet the relevant legal and compliance standards
  • Preparing payroll financial data and making sure it’s reported accurately into finance systems

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience managing high-volume payroll. US payroll experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and administration skills, with internal teams and external partners
  • A proactive, positive approach to learning and cross-training
  • Strong adaptability and the ability to respond quickly to changing requirements
  • A track record of meeting tight deadlines
  • An understanding of end-to-end payroll processes is an advantage
  • Able to work US hours

Why apply?

  • Flexible hybrid working, with minimal office travel once you’re settled
  • The chance to work in a global, dynamic organisation
  • A supportive environment with a strong focus on development and continuous improvement
  • The opportunity to build your US payroll expertise

If you care about delivering accurate, high-quality payroll and want to join a team where your expertise will make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today to be considered.
