The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

We are recruiting to a permanent, full time Band B8D Psychology Professional Lead post for Adult Learning Disability Services in NHS GG&C. The Learning Disability Service in GGC is the largest in Scotland and consists of 2 inpatient wards plus 8 individual community teams across 6 HSCPs. The successful post-holder will provide professional and overarching clinical leadership to the Practitioner Psychologists working in these teams and services, with responsibility for the PT governance infrastructure within these teams and services. In doing so, the post-holder will be supported by a number of Consultant Clinical Psychologists and will hold line management responsibility for some of the psychology staff. As an integrated member of the Specialist Learning Disabilities Senior Management Team (SMT), professional and clinical psychological advice will be provided to the SMT, to inform the psychological care and treatment of all individuals using the service and regarding psychology workforce issues and the maintenance of staff wellbeing for all staff who provide care and treatment in the service. The job plan will also include 5 clinical sessions, which currently sit within inpatient services.
Applicants must be a HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, with significant experience as a Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist in learning disability services. Applicants must also have a proven track record as a leader for Practitioner Psychologists and of service development, improvement and delivery. Operational line management experience is desirable as there are some members of staff for which this will be required.
The post-holder will be line managed by the Head of Adult Services: Learning Disability and Recovery and will have professional leadership from the Psychology Professional Lead for NHS GG&C, and will join the Psychology Professional Leads Group (PPLG) in NHS GG&C where they will have the support of peers and will contribute to Board-wide and national roles and responsibilities as a leader for the Psychology profession, for example, psychology workforce development and the co-ordination and provision of supervised clinical placements for the range of Applied Psychologists and psychological therapists in training.
